Bill Maisey

The old guy.  Started sportscar racing in 1965 fresh out of college in a Bobsy Formula Vee.  Raced mostly at Marlboro, MD and VIR.  In those days, 40 to 50 car fields of FV's were common. Took a long break from car racing after 1971 to raise a family and to pay bills.  During that hiatus, raced karts, and dirt bikes.  Returned to SCCA racing in 1985 in a un-loved F440.  Soon after bought a Zink FF which was followed by a series of FF's and FC's.  In 1997, after  retirement from an engineering career, bought a new Cheetah DSR.  Raced three different DSRs over the next 14 years, winning the SE Division championship twice and attending the Runoffs yearly.

Wanting to test the vintage waters, bought a '69 Crossle FF in 2009.  After a couple of seasons of vintage racing, I have concluded that I am not yet ready for vintage where the competitors are more interested in the preservation of their cars rather than full bore racing.

When Honda announced the FF conversion program, I sold the last DSR and decided to build a car; the Swift. I plan to give the F1600 Series a try, but have no illusions of being competitive with the legions of teenagers, fresh from karting, with pro career aspirations drawn to the series.  Despite rolling up on my 70th birthday mid-season, I plan to have lots of fun.

Wanting a newer car for the twilight (farewell tour?) of my racing adiction, I sold the Swift and the vintage car and bought a year old Piper.  Cool car!  I plan to run only a couple of the Pro 1600 Series races (will be crew for Sean for the others), but plan again to have major fun.

Sean Maisey

The son (not so old).  Started sportscar racing in 1988 in the dreaded F440 at a drivers school as a college graduation gift. Sean had been racing dirt bikes off and on since age 9. Within  practically no time, he had bought a Zink FF and has continued his racing addiction ever since.  He has owned and raced FF, FC, FB, FA and had the first Stohr DSR.   He too, has attended many Runoffs.  He was the MARRS FC champion in 1996.

Sean was a member of the SCCA committee that formulated the Zetec and FB rules.  He now serves on the SportsRacer and Formula Car Advisory board.

After a horrendous street-bike accident in August 2009, he sold his Van Diemen FB and went about a steady recuperation.  He returned to racing in 2010 in the Swift/Honda.  He bought the Citation FC for conversion to a F1600/Honda car for the 2011 season where he ran 5 of the 6 events.  While not toiling in his garage, he is the Director of Operations and Engineering for Colonial Williamsburg.
